A very social, social media cafe

cupcakes29 October 2009

October’s Devon Social Media Cafe was ‘better than the last one with probably twice the number of people” according to one attendee.

Over 35 people turned up to Plymouth Arts Centre for the monthly discussion group which aims to bring together social media users in Devon to network, socialise and discuss best practice.

The event is organised by public relations consultants, PR Dogs.

Katy Creates, of Devon Social Media Cafe said: “It was a really positive night and we’ve had so much great feedback from everyone that turned up. Thanks goes to Plymouth Arts Centre for hosting the event, PR Dogs for sponsoring the refreshments, Bella’s Bakery for her wonderful cupcakes and Devonshire Tea for bringing along some samples.

“The room was truly buzzing with conversation. It was lovely to see some familiar faces as well as some new ones and I’m really looking forward to next month’s meeting. This is developing into a very social, social media cafe which is just how it should be!”

Plymouth Arts Centre to host second Devon Social Media Cafe

with one comment

Devon Social Media Cafe’s second meeting will be held on Wednesday (28 October) with an evening event at Plymouth Arts Centre.

Over 25 guests are expected to attend with representatives from the media, public sector, arts and business communities.

Devon Social Media Cafe is the first group of its kind in Devon and offers social media users the opportunity to get together in person to discuss social media best practise and to network away from their computer screens. The event is organised by public relations consultants, PR Dogs.

Katy Creates, of PR Dogs said: “Devon Social Media Cafe is an exciting new forum for people to exchange ideas and find the best ways of using social media effectively.

“Social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter are an expanding feature of modern life and more and more people are finding inventive and innovative ways to use the medium. This is especially true in the south west where rural locations and a supportive local business network make the internet a prime tool in an organisation’s marketing mix.”

Plymouth-based Twitter user, Bella’s Bakery, will be supplying some of her deluxe cupcakes for guests to sample and other refreshments will also be available.

The event starts at 6.30pm. To book a place click here.
