Plymouth to host Devon’s first Social Media Cafe event

A new networking and discussion group for Devon business users of social media has been set up, and its first meeting will be in Plymouth next month.

The group, called the Devon Social Media Cafe, aims to encourage businesses to recognise the value of social media and to explore new and better ways to use it.

The monthly event is also a chance for social media users in Devon to get together with Twitter followers, Facebook friends and Linkedin contacts to meet in person away from their computer screens.

South West public relations consultants, PR Dogs, decided to set up the cafe after being asked to give social media presentations at various business networking events.

John Taynton, director of pr dogs said: “More and more clients are asking us for social media advice and we’ve noticed a real and growing interest in social media and its uses and applications for Devon businesses. The Devon Social Media Cafe is a natural extension of the online networks that are already building up in the county. It will provide a friendly environment for innovators and those who are testing the online waters to get together, pool ideas and forge relationships.”

The event will be held on Tuesday 15 September at Bar Ha Ha, Plymouth, from 6.30pm onwards. A wi-fi connection will be available.

There is no charge for the event but guests are asked to reserve a place online at: or telephone 01822 600100.
